Holiday time is the best time, obviously. And every year about a week or two before Christmas, my family and I spend the night in a hotel in San Francisco and go out to a fancy restaurant. Getting dressed up and going to a fancy restaurant definitely helps me get in the holiday spirit. The city is so beautifully decorated for the holidays, and a lot of the restaurants decorate for the holidays. A holiday restaurant can’t just have great food, it has to have a warm, festive, and cozy ambiance too! So, if you are looking for the perfect holiday restaurant for date night, a holiday party, or family dinner, here are my top places! No need to look anywhere else, these are the best!
Side note, now these restaurants are not cheap. They are not crazy expensive, but definitely a bit pricey. However, these are truly the best restaurants to splurge on if you want the ultimate holiday experience and to die for food.
Kokkari is my number one holiday restaurant to go to. Kokkari is a wonderful greek restaurant that is always crowded, with a great bar, multiple dining rooms, and a stunning rotisserie open oven. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and it is basically the it place to be. Stand outs are: the grilled cheese, octopus, lamb, and of course the moussaka. You have to order the moussaka! Located at 200 Jackson St. San Francisco
Morad is a fantastic Moroccan restaurant. As you can see from the first picture, it has a phenomenal atmosphere that is cozy and chic. Not to mention, and incredible bar too! Service was impeccable. I highly recommend the eggplant as an appetizer, the snapper and the duck! Also, you CANNOT skip out on their cinnamon powdered fluffy donut balls. Literally the best thing you will ever eat! Located at 140 New Montgomery st, San Francisco.
This is another restaurant, like Kokkari, that you just cannot miss. It is such a cozy restaurant right near the Embarcadero and is decorated to the nines. In fact, Beyonce and Jay Z ate here. I recommend this restaurant be at the top of your list for holiday restaurants. Located at 1 Mission St. San Francisco
4. Water Bar
The Water Bar is right near Boulevard, and is probably the most pricey restaurant on this list, but for a good reason. It is stunning and is located right on the water. It has amazing seafood and many celebrities and athletes have eaten here. It is truly a stunning restaurant and sure to live up to holiday expectations. Located at 399 The Embarcadero, San Francisco.
5. Michael Mina
Michael Mina is a very popular and well known chef in San Francisco. He is practically a celebrity chef. His restaurant has a michelin star and is a great place to have a holiday dinner, and it is right near downtown/Union Sq. Located on 252 California St.
Gitane is a really amazing french restaurant in an alley with outdoor seating. It is a small crammed restaurant, but has outdoor seating in their chic alley. You truly feel like you are in France, and it is also near downtown too! If you want a bit edgier night, head to Gitane! Located at 6 Claude Ln, San Francisco.
So, that was a lot of info I just told you! So my top recommendations would be Boulevard, Kokkari, and Gitane for those of you that like something a bit different! I’ve tried many different restaurants in San Francisco, and these are by far the most holiday fun restaurants (with amazing food of course!).
Don’t forget to check out my San Francisco food guide in the Mission and my review on Tartine Manufactury (which is another incredible restaurant)! You are not going to want to miss out on these food photos!
